HISTORY OF THE H.E.R. WEEKEND

A small group of women once voiced a powerful desire: to experience a training as intense, transformative, and life-changing as the New Warrior Training Adventure offered to men. That spark of longing became a call to action—and from it, the H.E.R. Weekend was born.

With an all-gender team united by purpose, we spent a year designing and shaping a training that would become a sanctuary for women—a place to release trauma, engage in deep healing, and rediscover their strength. What emerged was more than a program; it was a path to empowerment.

In July 2001, at Camp Conifer in Arrowbear, California, 13 women stepped into our very first training. It was powerful. It was intense. It was everything we had hoped for—and in that moment, we knew something extraordinary had begun.

Over the years, H.E.R. Weekend has grown into a thriving, heart-centered community. Guided by a dedicated Board of Directors and Leader Council, and supported by an incredible network of volunteers. Our mission has reached across Southern and Northern California, Arizona, Kansas, and even New Zealand. With more than 40 trainings completed, we have witnessed hundreds of women step into healing, reclaim their voices, and transform their lives.

Some of our original co-founders have moved on, while others—Bobbie, Peter, and Brian—continue to nurture and support this ever-growing community.

What inspires us most is the transformation we witness again and again: participants, leaders, volunteers, and staff discovering their own courage, healing deeply, and stepping into empowered lives. It is a privilege to have been part of this journey from the very beginning—and an honor to continue walking alongside those who are yet to come.
